OYE: Open Your Eyes Magazine Cover Model Competition 1. Doesn't the magazine and competition feature only Latina/Hispanic models? A: No. While Open Your Eyes' readership is primarily composed of young urban/Hispanic men, the magazine regularly features celebrities and models of all backgrounds. You do not have to be Hispanic to be featured in Open Your Eyes or participate in our cover model competition. 2. Wait a minute! How do I know the competition isn't a scam? A: Open Your Eyes Magazine is an established, nationally distributed print magazine, which has been in circulation since 1999. Open Your Eyes has featured and/or worked with a long list of celebrities and artists including Eva Mendes, George Lopez, Sofia Vergara, Eva Longoria, Janice Dickinson, Oscar De La Hoya, Edward James Olmos, Bill Maher, Tito Ortiz, and many others. Current and past advertisers include, General Motors, Budweiser, Jeep, Levi's, Miller Brewing, Nissan, Skechers, Philip Morris, Target, JVC, Crown Royal, HBO, L'Oreal, and more. Our cover model competition has been covered by FOX News and other media outlets. In other words, you can rest assured that Open Your Eyes is a reputable business, not a fly-by-night operation. Our reputation is built on a 12 year track record of producing top-quality content for our readers and advertisers. Open Your Eyes is committed to providing its cover model competition contestants a rewarding experience based on honesty and integrity. If you have any questions regarding any aspects of the competition, we are always available via phone or email to answer those questions. 3. Is the magazine sold in stores? Yes. Open Your Eyes is sold nationwide at numerous newsstands, bookstores, and convenience stores. Some of the retailers that carry Open Your Eyes include, Borders, Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, and 7-Eleven. For a list of our preferred newsstand vendors please search our store locator. Please note that not every location of these national retailers carries Open Your Eyes. To verify if a certain location sells Open Your Eyes, please check our store locator and/or call the store directly to verify that they have the magazine in stock. 4. Why is there an entry fee to participate in the competition? Open Your Eyes is providing a valuable service to its contestants. The process of photographing all contestants, in particular, is critical to your success in the competition. Your participation provides you access to Open Your Eyes' brilliant team of artists (photographers, editors, hair/make up artists, stylists, photo retouchers, etc.) who will be responsible for perfecting your photos to magazine-quality. Your entry fee offsets these production costs and makes it possible for us to produce a competition featuring undiscovered models. There are plenty of photographers on Model Mayhem who will shoot you for free. However, few of them can offer you much beyond free photos, most of which are of inferior quality. To become a successful model, you will more than likely reach a point where you have to invest in your career by paying for quality photos. Similarly, participation in our competition can be an investment in your career, and one which provides you not only valuable photos, but also tear sheets and national exposure--not to mention the opportunity to land a magazine cover! 5. I read somewhere that the merchandise contestants receive is just a bunch of photo prints... This is false. In addition to your magazine copies the merchandise you receive will consist of actual products/services provided from competition sponsors. Examples of past and current merchandise given to contestants include swimsuits, lingerie (and other apparel), as well make up product, and beauty/tanning salon gift certificates. Merchandise sponsors do change from issue to issue but the items you receive are selected carefully to ensure they are of high quality and appealing to our contestants. 6. I don't have any experience modeling so I'm worried I won't know what to do at my photo shoot. The competition is specifically geared to undiscovered models, most of whom are first-time models or have very limited experience. Our professional staff of editors/photographers has many years experience directing models and will be able to guide and pose you to make sure your photos look as good (or better) than those of models who have been in the business for many years. Again, you will be working with an expert staff of creative professionals who have been published and have worked with many of the biggest names in Hollywood. 7. I don't look like the models in your magazine and have certain parts of my body that I'm worried about. Not even super models are perfect! It's important to remember that our top-notch retouchers will be editing your published images inch by inch. They will remove stretch marks, blemishes, pimples and other imperfections. The process of retouching your published photos may also include color correction, skin smoothing, adjusting skin tone, eye/teeth whitening, and body shape enhancements (if necessary). This means you can rest assured that your final images will be of the highest quality. 8. Will you provide hair and make up for my shoot? Yes, as mentioned above, you will be working with our team of hair and make up artists, all of whom are trained in print work. 9. How many looks will I be doing? We will shoot you in a minimum of two looks, both of which will be published in your magazine feature. 10. I'm not sure I can afford the entry fee. We will do our best to make the entry fee manageable for you. First, we are able to break up the entry fee into payments spread out over two to three months. You should also bear in mind that the competition is structured to offer you the opportunity to make up some or all of your entry fee through the magazines/merchandise you receive as well as the sales commission on your online sales. 11. What happens to my photos that aren't used in the magazine? All the photos that we take of you for the competition belong to you as well to us. The day of your shoot you will receive a copy of all your photos in high resolution. We do require that you hold your photos until your issue of the magazine has been published. Once the magazine is released, the photos will be yours to use for other projects. |
