You might not recognize her name, but one look at this exotic woman makes you want to Google her till your fingers fall off. With a strong stage presence and a firme body (of work) this lady promises not to stay under the radar too long. And don’t let her mysterious eyes put you in a trance—you could end up trapped in a world you can’t escape. Then again, with looks, a sense of humor, and sweetness you don’t often find in the City of Angels, being caught in her world might be the best trap you’ve ever fallen into.

Where did your name come from? Is it one of those made up Hollywood names?
It’s 100% real. My name Arista is derived from “aristocrat.” My parents got my name from the dictionary and just added an “A” at the end.

So, what’s new for you for 2008?
I am proud to say that my 2008 has started with being in OYE, which is my first magazine spread. I don’t think it gets any better than that. Besides that, I just finished a feature in the Roadstar Motorsports 2008 Calendar.I’m currently in school, majoring in broadcast journalism and getting ready to intern for MTV this summer— so be sure to keep your eyes open because I hope to be a future entertainment TV host.

Sorry to be so forward but damn! Are you single?
Yes I am. Right now my focus is on myself—not to sound selfish—but I’m chasing my dream. I mean, I’m not opposed to a relationship right now; it’s just been hard trying to find someone who completely understands my busy bee mentality. I figure it will all come when the time is right—no need to rush it.

What do you look for in a man?
Humor! I absolutely love it when a man can make me laugh. Also: patience. I like a man who is confident but not superior, someone who can listen and take what I say into account. I want someone with goals, who is driven and, most importantly, a man who appreciates me from day one. I like men who pay attention to details and perform random acts of kindness, like someone who cooks me a meal or sends flowers.

How big do you like their bank accounts?
Honestly, I need someone with a brain. Money is great. but I don’t pick a guy based on his bank account. Some people think that the money, jewelry, cars and exterior might be the key to getting me, but it’s not. I’ve been around luxury and famous people, it’s beyond names, fame, glamour and money. All the exterior stuff can be gone in a second. What’s left for you then? I need more than a man’s bank account because I make my own money. If a man is responsible and can carry his own weight enough to one day be able to support a family, then cool. But I will say he needs to have enough for my 4.5 carat diamond ring when its time for the bells to ring.

So, Mexi-rican…rica, rica, rica. How was it like growing up in three different cultures?
Yeah, I am Costa Rican, Mexican and Puerto Rican. It has been great. I love my mix even though at times it can be overwhelming. Sometimes people throw negative comments at me like, “You’re not a real Puerto Rican if you’re mixed,” or, “You don’t look Mexican!” It upsets me because I never really looked at it as growing up in three different cultures. Even though they are three different countries I have always embraced them as a whole. So when people come at me in a stereotypical way and pick on one of my cultures all I can say is: ignorance is unacceptable. Don’t judge!

About how long does it take you to get ready for a hot date?
Well you know what they say: the first impression is everything! So if I’m really trying to impress, it probably takes me about two hours. That’s enough time for a shower, hair, makeup… and, of course, I have to try on at least three outfits before I actually pick a winner. Finally, there’s my lip–gloss application. Then I can strut to the car with my best Beyonce walk.

What about for a not so hot date?
For a not so hot, it takes me ten to twenty minutes.

What was the corniest line a guy ever said to you that actually worked?
Corny lines can be sweet sometimes because they make me smile. One line that stuck in my head is, “You’re like a star that shines brighter than any other, and there are a lot of stars up there.”

Okay, speed round you have to choose either or: Speed boat or sail boat?
Speed racer boat!

Cows or bulls?
Moo-moo.

Puppies or kitties?
Aw, puppies!

What kind of movies are you into?—so I know what to take you to when we go out on a date.
I’m into all kinds! I love watching movies. Some of my faves are The Notebook, Crash, Diary of a Mad Black Woman, Spongebob Squarepants: The Movie, and the list goes on.

I’m having visions of you and Carmen Electra mud wrestling in my bedroom. Do you like wrestling?
I like pillow fighting. Does that count?

Did you grow up in a mainly Hispanic neighborhood?
No. It was pretty weird but I have always been the “different” girl. It definitely has been an experience growing up in an area that is mostly Caucasian. I was never like the rest of the kids in my neighborhood and sometimes would find myself being the only Hispanic kid in my classes. Whenever people would ask what city I lived in their eyes would get all big because that area is known for posh lifestyles. But I’d always joke and say yeah, but I live at the bottom of the hill! People assumed I was this spoiled kid because of my neighborhood.

Have you ever eaten sushi off a person—if not, you really ought to try it.
Wow, that was random—someone must be hungry. I just love food. But no, I’ve never eaten sushi off someone. I will make a note of it for future reference though.

What do you consider your best feature?
My eyes, so be careful because if you look into them long enough you may fall into my trance, but I promise it’s a good one.

Where you always popular or did you go through an “awkward” stage?
Awkward stage? Yes, I’d say in middle school because I was finding out who my true friends were. Now, when I look back to those days, I realize there were so many petty stressors that weren’t worth the drama. This is 99% of the reason I spent my high school years in home study, graduated early and went straight into college.

What’s your idea of a nice date?
I like to have cuddle time while watching movies, snacking on pizza and ice cream.

Finally, what’s your poison?
Wow, my poison? Isn’t that deadly? Food! From pizza with ranch dressing, brownie sundaes, arroz con pollo, chicken tacos, pasta, bread—everything! I just hope it eating this way doesn’t catch up to me. I have never been on a diet and don’t workout besides my dance classes. Speaking of food, I’m hungry now. Time to eat! Ciao—besos!
