GAME REVIEW: BUZZ! QUIZ TV

September 23rd, 2008

Put away those old skool trivia board games and break out Buzz! Quiz TV, the new PS3 game that brings all the fun and excitement of TV game shows to your living room. Included with the game are four wireless buzzer controllers that you use to buzz in when you know (or think you know) the correct answer.

Buzz! Quiz TV is definitely the game to break out when you have the familia over. You start by choosing a character—our favorites were the hot cheerleader and the Mexican luchador—and customizing his/her outfit. Unfortunately no bikini models or Homies are available, but there are some pretty fun characters nonetheless. There are several rounds of play such as “Pass the Bomb,” where you’re holding a ticking bomb that’s like a hot potato you can’t get rid of until you answer a question correctly. You rack up points in each round leading up to the Final Countdown, where only one player will be left standing. Overall, the preguntas are not too hard but not too easy, with categories like sports and movies that most anyone can handle without looking like a complete idiota.

You can play against your friends at home or hop online to compete against the world. Another cool feature is the ability to add your own quizzes to the game. This is done by going to mybuzzquiz.com where you create questions that you then download to your PS3 (or can also make available to other players). If writing trivia questions isn’t your idea of a good time then you can visit the site to find and download a whole smorgasbord of new categories/questions. We even found “2Pac Lives Forever,” though nothing yet on Chalino Sanchez.
