Buckle your seat belt for a wild ride through, around, and above a faraway island! MotorStorm Pacific Rift is the action-packed off road racing juegazo for the PS3 that will literally leave you gasping for air.

You start play by choosing from one of four zones on the island–Air, Fire, Water or Earth. Next, you choose your weapon: a motorbike, ATV, buggie, rally car, racing truck, mud plugger, or (my favorite) monster truck. With that out of the way, you’re ready to roar down the road–or blaze your own trail if necessary. One of the first things you’ll notice is the amazing scenery. Lush forests, sandy beaches, and vivid ocean views are just a few of the breathtaking landscapes you’ll witness while playing the game. But let’s face it, nice views are not enough to make you want to drop 60 bones on this game. The heart-pumping racing action on the other hand is what makes this game worth every penny. Unlike racing games that make you feel like your car is just sitting there while the scenery is moving past it, MotorStorm is, in a word, FAST! The game just does an awesome job of creating the sensation of speed, especially if you play it on a large HD TV (which I highly recommend).

Although you are going around in laps, there are several different routes and shortcuts that will get you around each course. This keeps things interesting as you don’t feel like you’re seeing the exact same scene over and over. The graphics on MotorStorm are amazingly realistic. All the little details, like the flying mud and vehicle damage are impressive, but the incredible crash scenes are probably the most realistic I’ve ever seen in a game. You will actually wince as you see your mangled body fly, twist, and bounce off the ground.

Multi-player is a must for this game. Why? Well, racing against your amigos and talking smack along the way is always more fun than competing against some imaginary computer character. There’s nothing better than zooming by your buddy–except for getting to slug him as you go by. Thanks to MotorStorm you can actually do that, as well as ram him, or push him off a cliff. Now that’s what I call competition!
